What Do Books Do?

The round table discussion held in Vzdělávací centrum Národní Knihovny ČR, room no. 145 1st floor (National Library Klementinum) on Monday, March 26th 2018 at 3.30 pm will address key issues of research project Books & Politics which was launched by Swedish book historian Kristina Lundblad (Division of Book History, Lund University) in 2016, and has since grown into an international project. The general idea of the project is not to study political books but to investigate how books – a. e. the physical thing itself, with its various forms and properties – carry, effect and mediate or bring about political and ideological meanings, how they do politics, how they intersect and interact with ideological values and the political aspects of culture and society. The panelists will present their current work and recently published monographs and frame them within the context of contemporary trends in the growing interdisciplinary field of book studies.

Entry to the discussion is free, you only need to fill out the registration form.
